Lhabab Düchen – Holy Day – 10 Nov 2017

Lhabab Düchen is one of the four most important holy days of Tibetan Mahayana Buddhism commemorating events in Lord Buddha’s life. Lhabab Düchen celebrates Lord Buddha’s descent from The God Realm of Thirty-Three back to earth.

Lord Buddha had gone to The God Realm of Thirty-Three to teach the Dharma to both his mother and to the gods living there. He spent several months teaching there to repay his mother for her kindness and liberate her from Samsara.

Lhabab Düchen is celebrated each year based on the lunar Tibetan calendar. This year it occurs on 10 November 2017.

On Lhabab Düchen, the karmic results of actions, both positive and negative, are multiplied 100 million times according to Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche, citing the Vinaya text, The Treasure of Quotations and Logic. For this reason, it is recommended to engage in virtuous activities and keep a positive mind throughout the day.
