“Monthly” Vajrasattva Purification Retreat @ HBC – 1 to 5pm

Monthly Vajrasattva Purification Retreat @ HBC – 1 to 5pm

First Session: Saturday 31 Jul 2021

The Vajrasattva mantra is a powerful practice to purify negative karma and a quick way to transform your mind. It is a kind of detox of the mind.

By popular demand, this session will be held monthly on the “last Saturday” of each month. The first of these monthly sessions will be 1-5pm on 31 July 2021.

FPMT’s founder, Lama Yeshe (1935 – 84) said: “the Vajrasattva practice can purify all negative energy; there is no negativity that Vajrasattva meditation cannot purify.”

There will be a short explanation of the practice followed by several sessions led by Owen Cole. Owen has done a three-month Vajrasattva and other retreats.

No initiation is necessary though an understanding of Buddhist principles and karma is useful.

All welcome.

Chökhor Düchen – 1st Turning of the Wheel – 14 Jul 2021

Chökhor Düchen
1st Turning of the Wheel
14 Jul 2021

Known in English as “Turning the Wheel of Dharma,” Chökhor Düchen commemorates the anniversary of Guru Shakyamuni Buddha’s first teaching. It is said that for seven weeks after his enlightenment, the Buddha did not teach. Afterwards, Indra and Brahma offered a Dharmachakra and a conch shell and requested Guru Shakyamuni Buddha to teach. Accepting, Guru Shakyamuni Buddha turned the wheel of Dharma for the first time at Sarnath by teaching the four noble truths.

This is a merit multiplying day.

Read advice from Lama Zopa Rinpoche for practices to do on merit multiplying days.

Our Spiritual Director, Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche said the Sangha are the real heroes because they are defeating the delusions.

The Four Immeasurables – Geshe Tenzin Zopa @ HBC Jun 2021

Teachings by Geshe Zopa (In Person) at HBC

The Four Immeasurables 1, 8, 15 and 22 Jun at 7.30pm
We are so grateful that English speaking Geshe Zopa has kindly agreed to take a short break from his retreat to give these teaching at Hayagriva.

The Four Immeasurables are so called as they are directed towards an immeasurable number of beings. These qualities help transform the way we look at ourselves and others by breaking down the barriers we create in our interactions.

  • Equanimity involves freedom from strong reactions (positive or negative) to others and events.
  • Love involves wanting others (even those who annoy you) to have happiness.
  • Compassion is the wish everyone be free from pain and its causes.
  • Joy is taking delight in the happiness of others.

Suitable for new or experienced students
