Unfortunately Venerable Chokyi is unable to travel to Perth in July. All bookings will be reimbursed. We hope Ven Chokyi can visit us at another time.
Venerable Thubten Chokyi, a western nun, has been teaching and leading meditation and retreats since her ordination with Lama Zopa Rinpoche in 2006. Chokyi is the resident teacher at Chenrezig Institute in Queensland where she teaches introductory programs such as Discovering Buddhism and assists Geshe Tsultrim on his weekend teachings. Chokyi is Director of Liberation Prison Project internationally and a member of Sunshine Coast Interfaith Network and the Women’s Interfaith Network in Sydney. Chokyi previously served as Spiritual Program Coordinator at Vajrayana Institute in Sydney for ten years. Chokyi recently led the three month Vajrasattva retreat at Chenrezig Institute, the first time this retreat has been offered in Australia since the early 1970s.

TEACHINGS
- Death and Rebirth (One Night Teaching and One-Day Workshop)
7.30pm Fri 5th July and 9:30am-2:30pm Sat 6th July
Although we know it is inevitable and the time of our death is unpredictable, we all live as if we have an infinite amount time ahead of us. As a result, we never really accomplish as much as we could in our lives, or do the things we would really be like to do, and then eventually face our own death with fear or regret.
However, it is possible to face death fearlessly and use the reality of death as a powerful positive spiritual experience to enhance the quality of our everyday lives. In this workshop we will explore together what to anticipate during the process of death and rebirth. We will learn how to help ourselves and others through this spiritually crucial time.
We will also investigate the impact of the awareness of the certainty of death and rebirth in helping us resolve conflicts, finish life’s unfinished business and experience great mental and emotional wellbeing, living life to its fullest.
The workshop will include teaching, meditation and group discussion. All welcome. Please bring a vegetarian lunch to share at the Saturday workshop.
(Note: Following the workshop there is a Medicine Buddha Puja at 3:30pm. It is a very important practice for the recently deceased. Offerings of flowers and food can be placed on the altar. All are welcome to join.)
